What is a Vedic birthday?
The civil date each year when your birth tithi and lunar month return — or your birth nakshatra, if you follow the Tamil custom — not your Gregorian anniversary.
Is it the same as my kundli or sun sign?
No. This site only finds the recurring calendar date. It does not draw a birth chart.
Why do I need birth time and place?
They fix which tithi or nakshatra was in force at the moment of birth.
What if I do not know my birth time?
The calculator asks for a time, so use the best recorded or remembered time you have and treat the result as approximate. If your birth fell close to the moment a tithi or nakshatra changed, a small error in the time can move the answer, so prefer a recorded time such as one from a birth certificate.
Amanta vs Purnimanta — which should I pick?
Amanta (Amavasya month start): coastal Andhra, Telangana, Karnataka and other Amanta regions. Purnimanta (Pournami month start): much of North India. Pick what your family already uses for festivals.
What is a Tamil nakshatra birthday?
In Tamil Nadu the annual birthday is often the day the birth star returns, not the tithi. Choose the Nakshatra region on the form.
What does the Gujarati / Vikram option change?
Year naming (Kartikadi Vikram / Gujarati Samvat). The tithi calculation is still lunar.
Why is the date a few days off from last year?
Lunar months drift against the Gregorian calendar. Adhika months add an extra lunar month some years.
Do you save guest calculations?
No. Guest check is not stored. Saving requires signing in at /dashboard.
Is there a mobile app?
No. Vedic Birthdays is a website. The signed-in web app is at https://vedicbirthdays.com/dashboard and works in a phone browser.
